Welcome to Beaconsfield

Beaconsfield Property

Nestling on the edge of the Chiltern Hills yet only 25 miles from central London, Beaconsfield offers the best of both worlds.  Criss-crossed with footpaths which take walkers to village pubs, the surrounding rolling fields provide an enviable backdrop whilst road and train routes can have the commuter or visitor in the city within 30 minutes.

Beaconsfield itself combines the picturesque old town, once a stopping point for coaches on their way to Oxford and now with a wide variety of specialist shops and restaurants offering cuisine from various points of the globe, together with the new town, a bustling centre with a range of shops, boutiques, supermarkets and cafes catering for all everyday needs.

For those who enjoy sport and leisure, Beaconsfield Golf Club also has grounds and facilities for cricket, rugby, football, squash, tennis and a fitness centre.  Opportunities for horse riding, rowing and swimming are located within a few miles, as are various health and golf clubs including Stoke Park and Cliveden.

As South Buckinghamshire retains grammar schools, the education for pupils of all ages is very highly regarded.  In addition to three sought after state primary schools, there is the Davenies Prep School for boys and High March School for girls, both of which have excellent reputations.  There are good bus connections to several private secondary schools in the surrounding area as well as the grammar schools, John Hampden and The Royal Grammar School for boys and Beaconsfield High School for girls.

Tim Russ
FRICS
Partner
Tim founded the company in 1995, having worked in Beaconsfield since 1983 running an office and local branch network for a large regional firm. Tim entered the profession in the 1960’s and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1974 and prior to coming to Beaconsfield, he worked in Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire and London’s West End. Tim came to Beaconsfield with his family in 1983, living in Jordans, and his two older children were brought up and educated in the town, attending High March, Pipers Corner and Beaconsfield High. For the last twenty years Tim has lived in a country village between Thame and Princes Risborough and his two daughters and son attended Lord Williams school in Thame. Tim is very involved in the local community, being a Governor of local schools – most recently Davenies. He is an RICS Housing Market spokesman and an RICS Registered Valuer. Tim’s hobbies and interests include sailing, skiing, cycling and tennis and when he can, spending time with his family. One such opportunity came in 2010 when Tim and his family cycled across Vietnam and Cambodia for charity.
John Day
FRICS FNAEA
Partner
The Day family have been actively involved in the property industry for over 200 years and John is the seventh successive generation of his family to make their career in the profession. Born in Kent, John was aware throughout his childhood of his family firm, Wm Day & Sons of Maidstone which traded from the 1830s until the 1980s as chartered surveyor estate agents. John decided to make his career West of London having studied at Oxford Polytechnic, qualified as a chartered surveyor and then married a Buckinghamshire girl. John has lived in Beaconsfield with his wife and three daughters since 1989 and has been in Partnership with Tim Russ since 2000. Away from work, John’s interests are mainly sports related including playing squash, golf and tennis at local clubs. For holidays, whilst John and his wife like travelling abroad they also enjoy their annual family visit to Cornwall where they enjoy walking the coastal path with their dog. Amongst John’s claims to fame are that he once opened the bowling for Tonbridge School’s 1st XI with future England Test captain Chris Cowdrey in the team. He has also been coached at cricket by some of the legends of the game (it must be said without too many of their skills rubbing off!) including Gary Sobers, Colin Bland, Alan Knott and Derek Underwood. More recently, John completed a Marathon and helped raise funds for Dr Barnados.
Graham Garner
Office Manager
Graham started in the Estate Agency Profession in October 1968 having changed direction from three years prior training as a structural engineer. Graham felt that estate agency looked a much more interesting and varied occupation and after all these years, he says it continues to be so. Whilst still being proud of having been born and raised in the heart of the east end of London, Graham has always considered himself privileged to be involved in handling such a diverse range of high quality homes within the area. Graham came to work in Beaconsfield in 1977 having worked in another high quality property market in Ascot previously. As part of developing his knowledge and expertise, Graham passed the National Association of Estate Agents Diploma and was awarded the Nationwide Building Society prize for the top marks in the country in the building construction section. Away from work Graham enjoys European travel and spending time with his family which includes two very active grandsons.
Gill Townsend
BA(Hons) Dip Ed MARLA
Born in Sydney Australia, the daughter of the owner of a construction company, Gill grew up visiting building sites – hospitals, schools and city centre office blocks. After obtaining a degree and further qualifications, she set off to travel the world. Arriving in London, Gill began work in the petrochemical industry and predominantly North Sea oil. Having met her husband, Gill has remained in the UK ever since. Gill describes it as inevitable that she would return to property in some form and since joining Tim Russ and Company in 2004 she is, once again, often to be found visiting construction sites and discussing new build projects. Prior to joining Tim Russ and Company, Gill had spent many years working as a Senior manager with another estate agency where she had regional responsibilities for many offices. Gill and her husband have been residents of Beaconsfield for the last 23 years and have brought up their 3 children in the town. In that time they have been involved with various local schools, clubs and charities. Gill still has a passion for travelling but mainly closer to home. She enjoys time with friends and family, walking (including to pubs) and is a student of medieval church architecture.
